Music = love + service.
Music connects and heals...and should occasionally come at you like John Henry's hammer.
My songs are firmly grounded in Blues, Roots, and Americana but I identify as a contemporary artist, not a traditional one. With my newest release, Fish Outta Water, I'm following the long standing blues tradition of writing and recording songs about social injustice, domestic violence, abuse, assault, homelessness, addiction, death, good old fashioned heartbreak...and redemption - with lyrics that grab your heart and music that moves your body.
I'm passionate about using my music to help others - and with this album I'm continuing the advocacy and outreach work I started with my previous records, to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and raise awareness about important social issues. 10% of my pre-order sales were donated to RAINN, the nation's largest anti sexual violence organization.
The journey from ideas scratched onpaper to recording and releasing an entire album, requires vision, hard work, dedication, a commitment to excellence, and if you're an independent artist like me, a lot of grassroots support from fans.
I've spent more than a year working on this record and am beyond excited to bring this new album to you. Working with producer Eric Corne, and all the musicians on this album, was an incredible experience. I believe it's the best work I've done so far.
This album also pays tribute to a country I embraced as home, Iceland. I was blessed to visit on three separate occasions in 2016 and I consider the people and the country my second home. The artwork and some of the songs were inspired by my time there.
